FAQs

Why is it called Dear Poets Society?

We believe that the purpose of poetry is to connect with humanity as a whole.
This project is dedicated to the quiet, often-unspoken moments that make us human —
and to the idea that everyone, whether or not they write, is a poet at heart.

Every exchange of words and emotions begins like a letter:
a reaching out — dear poet,
I’m struggling / I’m searching / I’m here

How long does it take to get a poem back?

We usually respond within a week, depending on the volume of submissions. If it’s urgent, feel free to mention that in your note and we’ll do our best to prioritise.

How does it work?

Head to our submission page and fill out the form. Let us know what you’re going through — heartbreak, joy, an identity crisis… we’ve seen it all. One of our poets will read your message and write you a personalised poem in response.

Can I request a specific poet or style?

We try to match your submission with the best poet for your tone and topic. If there’s a style or form you like (e.g. haiku, free verse, rhyming), feel free to mention it! We’ll do our best to accommodate.

Who is writing the poems?

The poems are written by a team of passionate, accomplished young writers who love poetry and believe in its power to connect and heal. Each poem is carefully — no AI, no templates, just human-to-human!
